Sastres is a border fort about ten miles north of Perpignan, squeezed between the hills and the sea. Fought over many times by the French and various Northern Spanish kingdoms.
Nice co-op wine shop on the way from the car park to the fort.
Guided tour was in French. I managed to follow most of it with my very poor grade-D O-level French and even managed to translate to the family. However, could see we were upsetting the others so we dropped out and didn't get to see the whole fort. Pity.
Reminded me somewhat of Fort George outside Inverness.
