As with Yellowstone, we were really lucky with the weather at Hawley Mountain Ranch. It rained one afternoon in the week we were there so really lucky.

Hawley Mountain Ranch is tucked up in the Abrosoka Beartooth Mountains to the north of Yellowstone. It's about an hour and a half up an unpaved road from the nearest town.

We chose it for quiet and seclusion, in direct contrast to the White Stallion Ranch which is on the outskirts of Tuscon.

Location was majestic. Rides were gentle, including river crossings. Quiet.

Lots of wildlife including hummingbirds, elk, deer, eagles, but we didn't see a bear.

And remember, never leave home without a chainsaw.
